Happy Halloween!
This is my favorite time of year. I love it so much hubby and I married seventeen years ago back on October 30th. We walked the protective circle and jumped the sacred broom. We had a High Priest and High Priestess from Church of the Spiral Oak perform the ritual I wrote up. Our daughters Amber, Tiffeny, and Ambrosia helped open the circle. I was pregnant with our youngest, Danelle. It was wonderful having everyone be part of the ceremony in some way.
Long before I met my husband, Halloween was already my favorite holiday. There are so many different days celebrating roughly the same thing. Samhain, the Celtic new year and the day the veil is the thinnest. Halloween itself, or All Hallow’s Eve. Then there is the Day of the Dead and All Saints Day. Not to mention Diwali. Although I didn’t know about India’s Festival of Lights until the last few years.
This year I will be celebrating Samhain with by engaging in an online ritual with Athena Perrakis owner and proprietor of SageGoddess. She runs rituals live on Youtube every sabbat, new moon, and full moon.
The most fun of the holiday was spent on Sunday, October 30th. Not only was it our anniversary, but it was also our town’s Trick or Treat night. Hubby walked the grandkids around the neighborhood. While Dani went with a friend. I spent the night sitting at the end of our driveway listening to a Halloween playlist on Pandora and passing out candy. I wore a black dress, black leggings with spider web designs and a matching witch’s hat. A girl’s got to represent.
How did you celebrate?
